Canadian companies are at the cutting edge of a new generation of fuel cell-based clean energy systems. Mitsubishi International Corporation's (MIC) affiliate, Mitsubishi Canada Limited (MCL), is actively exploring potential customers for a variety of fuel cell applications ranging from automobiles to tiny power devices for portable electronics. MCL is a limited partner in Vancouver, Canada-based Chrysalix, a world leader in early stage fuel cell equity investment. Chrysalix has invested in a variety of fuel cell and hydrogen companies in Canada and the U.S. In addition, MC has invested in Conduit Ventures Limited, the first European-based venture capital firm focused purely on fuel cells and related hydrogen technologies. There are many potential ways in which MCL can add value to an investment or business development partner. MCL can provide marketing and distribution in Japan and other markets, allowing access to major customers such as utilities, industrial corporations, or even individual consumers. MCL can provide due diligence on potential partners, or on government rules and regulations, having contacts with companies both large and small, including companies not yet on the international "radar screen". For example, MCL is currently representing a hydrogen sensor company to industrial customers in Japan, as well as working to market another company's fuel cells to OEMs in Japan. MCL also markets hydrogen purification equipment in Japan for another private Canadian company.
