Building and construction are key indicators of a nation's economic health. Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC), together with parent company Mitsubishi Corporation, is committed to environmentally sustainable construction. This awareness is core to our activities in the market for building and construction materials. Environmentally Sustainable Building and Construction MIC's trading activities in this market include such conventional materials as logs and lumber, exported from the U.S. and Canada to Japan, and plywood imported from Indonesia and Taiwan. MIC handles other, less conventional materials as well. We export artificial stone to Japan for building projects, and import refractories from Japan for use in cement plants. Recognizing the special concerns around forest operations, parent Mitsubishi Corporation, in November 2002, endorsed third-party certification for its forest product operations. |
